Student-Level Data Instructions & Submission

Student level data is collected for both National Norm-Referenced Tests, if administered, and State Criterion-Referenced Tests, when available. Student-level achievement results from both assessments are collected using the same workbook. Below please find descriptions for CSGF's student level data requirements for both assessments.

National Norm-Referenced Tests

National Norm-Referenced Test (NRT) data must be from a standardized national assessment that is both valid and reliable and uses a continuous learning sale that spans multiple grade levels to track student performance. For applicants submitting NRT results, CSGF requires that student-level achievement data are submitted for both (1) National Percentile Ranks (NPR) and (2) Raw Scale Scores for that specific NRT. Student-level achievement data must include all students who completed the assessment, even if some of these students are no longer enrolled in your school(s).

Examples of common national standardized assessments include, but are not limited to, the Terra Nova, Stanford 10, NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) and Scantron Performance Series. CSGF will accept EPAS assessment data.

For NRT data, the template delineates between Pre-Tests and Spring tests. In this context, Pre-Tests are tests provided to students entering the school for the first time. Please provide all administrations of a Fall test and all administrations of the Spring test for each student. Currently, CSGF only evaluates data as administered each Fall and Spring. If you administer an NRT more frequently, only include those administrations for the Fall and Spring administrations. If data is not available in all 4 subject areas included in the template, applicants should simply include all subject areas that are tested.

State Criterion-Reference Tests

State Test data must include individual proficiency levels for all students tested at all schools operated by the applicant. The individual proficiency levels should be based on the applicant's State proficiency levels and provide for all the proficiency levels used on the State Test, which is as high as five proficiency thresholds in some states.

Student-Level Data Template

When submitting student achievement data, an applicant should upload one file for the student level data. If an applicant operates more than one school, the student level template allows for different schools or the creation of additional "Achievement Data" tabs. All Student-Level Data for both the NRT and State Test should be included in this template.
